Standard Terms and Conditions of Services

Counselling and Psychotherapy Sessions

Talking therapies are helpful for anybody who wants to explore further into how they're feeling or thinking, as well as for anyone who has a problem they're wanting to address. Although the terms 'counsellor' and 'psychotherapist' are often used interchangeably, counsellors typically focus on particular difficulties over a shorter length of time, whereas therapists go deeper and seek to identify the underlying causes of experiences, and as such treatment normally takes place over a longer period of time. During therapy, it is common to find the process uncomfortable or challenging at times when you are exploring emotional and psychological difficulties.

The number of sessions that will be offered to you will be discussed when you make an appointment. Both short- and long-term work will involve reviewing the process after a certain number of sessions which will be discussed with your therapist. Sessions will last for 50 minutes, and regular appointments can be agreed with your therapist if they are convenient for the both of you.

Waiting Times

Clients are seen on a first come, first served basis and we will always aim to keep any waiting lists at a minimum. Waiting times will be affected by the availability of therapists and resources.

Fees and Payments

Fees are outlined on our 'fees and appointments' page. Payments should be made in advance if this is by bank transfer. Cash may also be paid, which can be given directly to your therapist if you are seeing them face-to-face. Payments can be made payable to: Introspectus Ltd, Sort Code: 60-83-71, Account Number: 64258745.

Missed Appointments and Cancellations

Missed appointments with less than 24 hours' notice will be charged at the full cost of the session. Any sessions that are cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice will also be charged at full price. Sessions can be cancelled in the first instance by contacting info@introspectus.co.uk.

If your therapist needs to cancel an appointment, we will always endeavour to give you 24 hours' notice and will offer you an alternative date and time.

Ending Therapy

Therapy sessions can be ended at any time. It is recommended that endings should be planned with your therapist, and you allow at least one session in order to work through any feelings or issues.

Contact

Ways to contact the company or your therapist will be made clear to you before commencing therapy. Some therapists will be reachable via their own phone numbers, whereas others will only be contactable via their email address.

Confidentiality

Session notes will be kept, and the Data Protection Act is complied with in the procedures controlling their content and storage. Except in exceptional circumstances, all material discussed in sessions is kept confidential in compliance with our policy on confidentiality.

Outlined below are some instances of exceptional circumstances in which information would be forwarded to the appropriate authorities. Confidentiality will also be discussed with you when commencing therapy:

  • if disclosure takes place at your request or with your consent.

  • when disclosure is mandated by law.

  • when we suspect that you or another person could be at risk of harm.

  • when there is an obligation to notify the public.

  • when disclosure is required by law and necessary to safeguard our interests.

Therapist Qualifications

All of our therapists are qualified to a minimum standard that allows them practice. Therapists will be registered with a governing body, such as the BACP, UKCP, or NCPS. Therapists will be able to notify you of their level of training and experience where necessary.

Agency Referrals

The terms and conditions of Introspectus will also be applicable if you were referred to us by virtue of an existing agreement between you and another agency.
